Okay, so here’s what’s been going on, in a nutshell.
· My mother, who is back in physical therapy at the nursing home, is doing better – but she seems to be jumping from one infection to another. The staff is working on it. Other than that, her morale is good, and bless her heart, she’s been making friends with other residents and even managed to bring another resident out of her shell. Hey, she’s doing God’s work there, so it’s hard for me to argue.

· A good friend of the family passed away over the weekend at the age of 41 after a courageous battle with cancer. The funeral was yesterday. I’m sad, but it’s greedy. I’m going to miss her company, and she was a really great friend to my wife, who will really miss her. But again, I can’t argue – she’s in God’s hands now and is free from pain. It was a rough trip for her, but I know she’d say it was worth it. She said as much while she was still with us.

· I have been swamped at work. I usually “carry work home” inside my head, thinking about creative solutions to projects on my desk. Last week I was physically carrying work home – and stayed late a night. Stayed late last night, too, making up time I took away for the funeral.

· You may or may not have noticed, depending on how many links you try to click – part of my archives are missing. Specifically, the first year’s worth, from September 2001 to August 2002. That’s really odd. I’ve been in contact with Blogger about it.
Okay, so it hasn’t all been crushing. Here are a couple of other things that I managed to do over the last week. In both cases, a dedicated post on each will follow, once I get a little time to sit and write:
· I read Wolves Eat Dogs by Martin Cruz Smith, the fourth about enigmatic Russian investigator Arkady Renko. It’s brilliant.

· I’ve been trying to study for a test in my HTML class (that’s in about half an hour – oops, need to wrap up and go…)

· I also happened to find and purchase a 1GB iPod Shuffle. It is also brilliant, and perfect for the way I listen to music. Like right now.
